At an early age he began playing guitar when his parents bought him an acoustic guitar at age 10. His parents divorced when he was 12 years old and he moved with his mother to Toronto where she worked as a housekeeper for several years before becoming a full-time mother to Benny and his older brother Daniel.
Blanco attended public school until high school where he started writing songs in his free time. He began performing live shows at open mic nights around Toronto from the age of 17 until 21 when he dropped out of university to pursue music full-time.

It was here that he met fellow music producer DJ Khaled and the two began working together on tracks for other artists. He began his career as a DJ in high school in his hometown of Miami (FL). He began to gain recognition by remixing songs for artists like Beyoncé and Usher. In 2008 he released his first single, “Right Now,” which featured Chris Brown and became a hit around the world.
In 2009, he signed with Interscope Records and released his debut album “We Run This.” The album went on to sell more than one million copies worldwide in its first week alone and eventually went double platinum.
