Hammer was born in Los Angeles, California on August 28th 1986 to Arthur L. Hammer III and Kristin Smith. He attended Santa Monica High School where he played football quarterback for the school’s team from 2001 to 2003. He graduated from Santa Monica High School in 2005 before attending Yale University in Connecticut where he studied drama for three years. His father was a producer for NBCUniversal Television Distribution at the time of his death from lung cancer on June 25th 2015 after a battle with the illness over ten years prior to his passing at age 66 years old due to complications caused by smoking during adulthood as well as having asthma since childhood which ultimately led him towards quitting cigarettes sometime between 2008-2010 when he first began acting professionally instead of working behind-the-scenes within Hollywood studios’

Hammer’s first major role was in the 2014 film The Lone Ranger. In 2016, he received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. He also had a recurring role on NBC’s television series This Is Us and starred as Vincent Vega in the film adaptation of Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 film Inglourious Basterds (2009).

He also starred in the Broadway play Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.Hammer has appeared on TV shows such as Sons of Anarchy and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and he has also made guest appearances on shows like Gilmore Girls and Arrested Development. He won an Emmy award for his performance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2008), and he was nominated again in 2010 for Alias (2007).
