The Voice Australia’s 2022 winner crowned in grand finale

The winner of The Voice Australia in 2022 has been revealed

she will receive $100,000 in prize money as well as a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.

And the winner is... Rita Ora's team member Lachie Gill. Before performing his new winner's track Wasted Time

The 24-year-old Melbourne PE instructor and former footy player stated he "never, ever would've anticipated" to win.

Thando Sikwila of Team Keith, Jordan Tavita of Team Guy, Lachie Gill of Team Rita, and Faith Sosene of Team Jess were the four remaining candidates in Sunday's finale

There wasn't a single weak link among them, and the coaches lavished praise on each and every one of them.

However, Lachie's victory was not without controversy on social media, with several viewers protesting that he was chosen as the winner amid a diverse top four.

Faith Sosene took the stage first, performing a beautiful rendition of the Christina Aguilera classic Beautiful, to the delight of the judges, who dubbed it "the best singing we've seen in this entire competition."

He admitted to being "super-nervous," but the coaches loved it

Jess Mauboy confessed that Time After Time is her all-time favourite song, and she stated his performance didn't disappoint.
