Tony Awards 2022 Starts With Jolt Of Ariana DeBose's Electrifying Performance

In a gleaming white costume and a wide-brimmed hat, host Ariana DeBose kicked off the Tony Awards.

She recently received an Academy Award for the film remake for which she was nominated.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson earned the first acting Tony for best-featured actor in a play.

"Fully Committed" and the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee This was his first Tony nomination.

From overlooked historical writers like Alice Childress and Ntozake Shange to Keenan Scott II and Antoinette Nwandu.

DeBose praised the brave efforts of understudies, swings, and standbys to keep shows running.

Darren Criss and Julianne Hough kicked off the four-hour awards, handing out mostly design awards.

The revival of “Company” nabbed best scenic design for a musical.
